I really love how bright this thing is and the battery life lasts quite a while. I'm very impressed with that. It was really easy to install because the instructions were clear and simple which made them easy to follow. Which is such a bonus if you know what I mean, and I'm sure you do. I think the build quality is quite excellent. Great value for the money in my opinion.
The light arrived 75% charged and when I turned it on inside the house I was seeing purple for a while, it's really bright on high. The first thing to know is that you need to have a proper place to mount it so that the solar panels can absorb as much sun as possible, also it's quite heavy (about 22lbs) so don't mount it to something that is too flimsy, I mounted mine to a cherry tree that was stripped and cut at 20 feet tall. The light completely lights up the entire area in front of my garage. I like that it has battery level indicator lights underneath it so that you can take a quick peak at it to see the charge, it comes with an impressive battery inside of it, and because it has 2 large solar panels it charges fairly fast. The remote works good along with the features, on from dusk to dawn, dimming, 3/5/8 hour timer. I have tried some other light similar to this one and I like this one the best, however this one is best suited for mounting facing the south as much as possible because it does lack some adjustability that others have.
This really is a complete kit. It has everything you need, hardware, solar panels, light and built in battery. The cables that connect it all up are plenty thick enough to handle the currents that'll be involved. The panels are well made, and the aluminum frame is solid and heavy duty. The mounting brackets are all powder coated metal and will resist rust for a long time. They are strong and heavy too, so will resist pretty strong winds without any issue. The light itself is surprisingly thin, but with all the breakthroughs in technology in LED's it doesn't have to be thick, and from my playing around with this light, I really believe this is at the cutting edge of that technology. The construction has FAR more metal and less plastic than I would have expected... It really is a quality first product.
I like something about it, that others have criticized, and that is that you do not need some phone-app to get full use of the features. The remote control does everything.
Lots of flexibility on how and where you're going to mount it, the hardware gives lots of options. It's quite easy to put together and mount too, setting up the ladders takes more effort than installing the light itself.
As for strength, I can't imagine you needing more light in one place than what this provides... If you did need more, then multiple lights would certainly be a better option. So yes it is VERY bright. But let's look at the claim that it's 5000 watts. it has 60 watts of panels, and 10 hours will fill the batteries, so that's 600 watt hours. But it can run all night, so if it was 5000 watts, that would take 40,000 watt hours. So that would leave me to think it's morel like 75 watts... I do know it's brighter than what a 75 watt light would provide, but 5000, no! Is this supposed to imply "5000 watt equivalent" like what you see on new LED bulbs? If so it should specify. If the seller fixes this issue with the listing, I'll be happy to edit to give it the fifth star.
So if you can deal with that sketchy claim, this really is a great light in every other way.
I've been working on a small business on my property far enough back that hooking up to the grid for now is pretty cost prohibitive so solar is king everywhere I can use it. This past year I've been trying and testing out all sorts of solar lighting. The parking lot needs light and so do some of the games we have set up. This light is a great surprise. It blows my other ones away. The one con though is it is a pretty heavy light and rather awkward to put up. Not having alot of help I finally just mounted it on the pole and them erected the pole itself. it is very hard to hold this light and screw it in even if to a wall. Past that it's super bright and covers a wide area very well. This actually ended up in my axe throwing area because of it's brightness. Usually I prefer the lights that have the panel built into the back instead of separate the way this one is. But I'd guess this one needs the extra solar to put out that much brightness and last many hours. I cant say for sure if it does last all night long....but can attest to at least 6. It's well made and very weather resistant with good heavy hardware that won't rust out easily. This is just a very well made light.
We had a solar light mounted at our driveway and it had the solar panel built in the top of it.
Unfortunately the solar panel was not getting as much light as it could due to being mounted in the top of the light.
I realized a separate solar panel was what I needed to catch more sunshine.
This light seemed like a good choice and would give me more light as well.
Installation was not difficult, the hardest part was doing everything 20' above the ground on a ladder.
Now my light stays nice and bright all night, and cloudy days no longer effect it.
The light out put is amazing, and I could not be happier with it.
